The second model made by Rough Wear was a huge success! It was the result of five contracts for the military. The horsehide is carefully tanned over a period of several months with an astringent fluid extract from the bark of trees and then finished with a pigment dye. The horsehide is sealed in reddish brown coloring, which expands and contracts repeatedly, revealing the mustang's original appearance.
